On the 3rd anniversary of the illegal War on Iraq, hundreds of Peace supporters marched thru Waikiki last night, in solidarity with the Global Protest against the U.S. terror war that took place in hundreds of cities all across the World this weekend.
Accompanied by colorful banners, a band of rhythmic drummers, and hundreds of neon-colored glow sticks, the marchers--including dozens of kids and high school youths, as well as wheelchair participants--gathered at the Honolulu Zoo for a short rally around 6pm before the march. Along the way, onlookers joined in, while many tourists and shop workers applauded the marchers(and a few hot-headed GIs on leave who harassed some sections of the ant-war march). The message of the Peace march was effectively sent out to the Public via placards that say: "STOP THE WAR," "BRING THE TROOPS HOME," "END THE ILLEGAL OCCUPATION," and "DOWN WITH THE BUSH REGIME!"
NotInOurName Hawaii--organizers of the March--also announced plans for upcoming actions, including the March 27 report by Ann Wright on the recent Bush War Crimes Tribunal. Stay tuned for more citizens' events to confront the Bush Regime.
