Sedition is just getting old
by circus dog Tuesday, Jul. 08, 2003 at 3:14 AM

I guess it is just no fun to be wrong all the time. All the predictions of disaster in Iraq, of a Vietnam quagmire, and of new terrorist attacks proved to be BS. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, but not Indymedia...

People
by aMy Tuesday, Jul. 08, 2003 at 4:24 AM

It would help if people became more involved. I don't think there's much conscious computer literate people who'd be willing to give there time to this yet although there are some gropings.

Actually, the US has it's hands tied with Afghanistan and Iraq. Yes, resistance is on an ebb in the US. People are trying to grapple with this being an endless war, some people have not really done that. We're in a transition where people are figuring out how they can succeed on the next rise of resistance spurred on by international protest. The imperialists are looking at it in a multi-generational scale, on the other we should look at our resistance to police state measures/detentions and round-ups in such a way also. The social and political moves we make today will strengthen us against the witchhunt/McCarthyist "logic" that they're trying to fit everyone into.

7 months?
by circus dog Tuesday, Jul. 08, 2003 at 7:41 AM

7 months? that means the website is actually 50 years more up to date than the ideas expressed on it.

So you are saying that the ideas expressed here are circa 1953? You mean the "family values" of Leave it to Beaver and the Brady Bunch? You mean anti-communist witchhunts? Yeah, sure, brilliant analysis there buddy.

amazingly narrow view
by circus dog Tuesday, Jul. 08, 2003 at 12:06 PM

No, more like the 1953 of Joe Stalin and his useful idiots in the U.S., such as Alger Hiss, the Rosenbergs, and Claus Fuchs. Not to mention the Hollywood "martyrs" of the Blacklists who lost their ability to be movie stars during the horrific "witch-hunts.." Oooooh, poor babies. Too afraid to admit in public that they actually were Communists- then cry about if for 50 years to gullible lefties. Why didn't they just admit it? It was true. What was so noble about refusing to acknowledge their affiliation?

You are an authoritarian fuck if you think people don't have the right to have diverse political beliefs without being blacklisted and snuffed out by "the land of the free" - what the hell are you on this site for, simply to fuck with those who you don't like? What, do you work for the Department of Homeland Security or are you simply the biggest dumbass on the face of the earth?

authoritarian bullshit
by somedude Wednesday, Jul. 09, 2003 at 12:57 AM

i only have one problem with our poor baby hollywood stars, they are already millionaires. It's so hilarious that one it comes to taxcuts you hate rich people, but if hollywood spouts off your trashy views you feel so sorry for them. "Blacklisting" as you call is the parogitive of the hollywood organizations that maybe don't wanna look bad by giving communist/marxist idiots grand awards, and if these hollywood millionaires believed so storngly what they were saying they would take the blacklisting and suck it up like a man. So does it makes us authoritarians that we don't the government should meddle with these organizations rights to hire/fire actors best on any reason? I suppose so, but it's not like business organizations or doing this to common registered democrats/other liberals, so i dont see what the problem is. Maybe hollywood just doesnt want to lose money by hiring actors that are being boycotted by the real Americans because of what they want to stand for, it's called business, or ownership, ooops i forgot though you guys are socialist aren't you? nevermind this whole argument is void if you don't bleieve in capitalism.

"Snuffed out?"
by jbusch Wednesday, Jul. 09, 2003 at 4:32 AM

Snuffed out? Give me a break. The Hollywood ten were simply asked if they were Communists. They all were. None of them admitted it. Instead, they fell back on the 5th Amendment to the same Constitution that their cronies in the Kremlin were seeking to destroy. They certainly have the right to be Communists- there is no law against being an idiot- but why were they made heroes of the Left for hiding that fact?

NO, for the millionth time, I do not work for the government, the CIA, the Mossad, Homeland Security, or any other spook agency. Don't get your frilly panties in a bunch. I am an architect. You are in no danger, ya big crybaby. Not that you would be if I was in the government- in case you haven't noticed, your civil liberties are alive and well.

I am not on this site to F--- with anybody. I am here to F--- with your ideas, which largely disgust me. If you are one of the cretins who think the Jews blew up the WTC, or that the government has been taken over by fascists, or that America is Satan's creation, then, yeah, maybe.........fuck you.

by jbusch Thursday, Jul. 10, 2003 at 2:59 AM

What a great argument! Concise, direct, and there was even some punctuation- though your grammar and capitalization skills need lots of work.

Sorry to see the level of intellectual debate on the Left fall so far. You are probably so used to being able to rant and rage amoung yourselves that you just explode when someone challenges your nonsense. Then comes the cussing, then the rage at your own impotence. Sad, really. I have probably ruined your safe little cocoon of hate.

If you believe the premises I listed, then defend them, but don't just assume you go through life insulting our country, our elected government, and our way of life without challenge. If that is what you want, then go live in the street and mumble to yourself.

what can we do? how can we change this????
by just another seeker on the path... Sunday, Jul. 13, 2003 at 7:23 AM

Sad...
I've been checking this site for the past few days, hoping it would get updated.... becuase I just moved to Hawaii, and I want to get involved in activism here as I was before I moved here....
So, today I decide to check the message boards, and see someone wondering just what I had been wondering, "why is this website so out-dated?" Then, I find this: someone asking an innocent and probably simple question, and it turns into this big arugment, "you're dumb," "no, you're a moron" "no, you shut up." blah blah bah...it's very discouraging.

I guess all i really want to know is...what can I do? I see the website is out of date, where can i go to help to fix this? how can I get involved? what happened to the people who where involved? how can we try to change things without name-calling and b.s. petty arguing?
i know it's probably asking alot.....

how to get involved
by another seeker Tuesday, Jul. 15, 2003 at 7:21 AM

If you click on the button on the upper left hand corner of the indymedia page that says 'participate' there are email addresses and such for you to contact. There might still be sign-wavers at the federal bldg. NION has regular events and there is the American Friends Serivce Committee.
